Sonam Kapoor

Biography
Sonam Kapoor (born on June 9, 1985) is the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, who began her career as Sanjay Leela Bhansali's assistant during the making of Black in 2005. But he saw star potential in her and cast her as Sakina in Saawariya (2007) opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film did not do well at the box office and for a while it seemed that Sonam had lost out to Deepika Padukone personally and professionally too. But ace director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra picked her for his semi autobiographical, Delhi 6 (2009) and cast her opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The film is set for a release on February 20, 2009. But these are early days for this young actress, whose beauty has been compared to the likes of Madhubala and Waheeda Rahman. She will have ample opportunities to prove herself in the years to come.

Career
Before starting her career off as an actress, Kapoor worked as an assistant under Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and assisted him during the making of his film, Black (2005). She made her acting debut alongside newcomer Ranbir Kapoor in Bhansali's Saawariya (2007), which failed to do well at the box office.[1] Her performance was opened to good reviews by most critics.[2]
In 2009, Kapoor appeared in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi-6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The film flopped at the box office and received mixed reviews by the critics, but her performance was highly praised. Critic Rajeev Masand commented, "Sonam Kapoor is the revelation in Delhi 6. She's a firecracker performer, instinctive and

uninhibited in what isn't even a conventional female lead".[3] Kapoor had signed David Dhawan's comedy film Come On Pappu, in which she is paired with Akshay Kumar.[4] However, the movie has been shelved. Currently, she is shooting for Aisha and for Karan Johar's I Hate Luv Storys with co-star Imran Khan.
